Two steps forward, one step back…

“Daring ideas are like chessmen moved forward. They may be beaten, but they may start a winning game.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Just walking

This picture was taken in the Keonehe’ehe’e (Sliding Sands) Trailhead last summer in Maui, HI. We were at 10,000 feet altitude, the air was tight, the trail was slippery and every step was a challenge. Regardless of the conditions, we kept walking because the scenery was amazing, we were literally on top of the world, seeing the Pacific Ocean all around us. We were fully aware of the privilege we had to be there. We were mindful of the sacrifices we made to be there.

Stop or go forward?

My point is, sometimes, challenges arise: you can’t close a huge sale, you look silly during a meeting, the bank reject you credit application, your partner screw up, you screw up… You have two options:

Stop walking, give up, go back to being a cog.

Feel sorry for yourself. You are defeated. You didn’t believe hard enough.

Or you can keep walking

Look forward and enjoy the privilege to be doing what you love regardless of the challenges. You maintain a positive attitude. Nothing can take your brilliant ideas down. You can take it, bring it on.
