Just say no.



In business or in your personal life, compromise is good. Negotiation is good. Accommodation is good. But only up to a certain point. Sometimes, you just have to say no. When should you say no? Where do you draw the line? It’s all up to you but for me, it all comes down to my values.

In our business mission we listed our core values as being: innovation, excellence, dependability, flexibility, accountability and adaptability. If your business doesn’t share these values, I’m not willing to compromise, negotiate with or accommodate you on any of these.

No matter the size of the contract, no matter the amount of money involved, if you are not willing to implement change in your business, I’ll turn you down. If you want to cut corners, I’ll just say no. If you show up late or even don’t show up for our meeting, I’ll back off.

I sound a bit harsh, do I?

Think about it for a second. A business partnership involves well, a partnership. This means we should get along a minimum since we’re going to spend quite some time together. If our values are diametrically opposed, neither your or my business will prosper. Lost-lost situation.

What about a win-win situation where we both give and take?

As I said before: «1 + 1 = 3, I think it is primordial for every individual and business to be aware of their values. Just as your application is the blueprint for your project, your values are the blueprint for your career or business. Do you know who you are and what you want? What kind of person would you like to become? What do you want your business to be recognized for?»

Be aware of your values, let’s make sure yours and mine are compatible and we’ll thrive doing business together.
