Showcasing your data in a grid view can be practical and efficient, but sometimes, you need a quick overview in a calendar format. Especially if you are using a date or a date and time field, optimizing your usage of the calendar feature will save you a lot of time. In this article, I’m giving you a few tips to optimize your usage of the calendar view in your Kohezion account.
Display Your Searches: From Grid to Calendar View
The first way you can use the calendar view is to simply open a search in the left pane using the calendar button. It is also possible to switch any open search to a calendar view. Simply select the date or date and time field you want to see appear in your calendar.
The first view you get is a monthly calendar view. The system automatically lists your items. You can then click once on any item to open it in a pop-up for quick updates or double-click on it to open your item in a new tab.
Single Basic Project Calendar View
On the top right corner of your screen, you have access to four buttons. The first one will go back to today’s date. The next three buttons allow you to switch between monthly, weekly, and daily views.
Below is an example of a weekly calendar using a simple date field.
This example is of a daily view, again with a date field.
Finally, when you use a date and time field, the weekly and daily calendars are ordering your items to give you a quick view of your day.
Opening a search in a calendar view is quick and easy. It can help you have a good overview of the tasks to be done, the contracts to be renewed shortly, your appointments or any other type of item, as long as it includes a date or a date and time field.
Custom Multi-Project Calendar
It is also useful to create customized multi-project calendars. These will not only include one search but as many as you want, from any of your projects. From the second tab (Calendars) of your search left pane, you can easily create and name your calendar, and add multiple searches.
In the example below, I added three task projects. Each of the search I added is colour-coded to help the user keep track of which search is which.
As you can see in the screenshot below, the system creates a colour-coded legend including all the searches.

Finally, the calendar view is also available to be used on your personalized dashboard. Simply turn any grid search you added with the search widget into a calendar by clicking on the calendar button. See the example below.
